Flatbed and specialized

Open deck for building materials, machinery and anything that will not fit inside a van. Securement and permits are settled before dispatch, not at the shipper's gate.

When this is the right call

  • The freight loads from the side or overhead, or simply will not fit through a trailer door
  • It is steel, lumber, pipe, machinery, or equipment on its own wheels or skids
  • The dimensions run past legal limits and the load needs permits and a route

Permits are a lead time problem, not a paperwork problem

Over dimensional freight fails on timing far more often than on cost. Permits are issued state by state, some states take days, and a few restrict travel to daylight or weekdays. If you bring us an oversize load for tomorrow, the honest answer is usually that it moves later in the week. We would rather say that on the first call.

Tarping is quoted, not assumed

Whether a load is tarped changes the rate, the loading time and which drivers will take it. Steel that has to arrive dry is a different job from steel that does not. Telling us at tender keeps it off the invoice as a surprise later.

What we need to quote it

Give us these and the rate comes back accurate

A vague tender produces a vague number that changes later. These are the details that actually move the price.

Dimensions and weightLength, width, height and weight. Height and width drive permitting.
Loaded howCrane, forklift, overhead, or driven on. It decides the trailer type.
TarpingWhether it needs tarps, and how many. This is a real cost, not a detail.
Securement pointsWhere the load can be chained or strapped without damaging it.
PermitsAnything over legal dimensions needs state by state permits and lead time.
