How we vet carriers
Every carrier that touches your freight has been through our own process first, and the file we build doing it does not stay locked in our office. If you want to see who is under your load, ask and we will send it.
What sits in a carrier's file
A signed agreement, proof of active operating authority, a current certificate of insurance naming the coverage and limits, and the licensing and registration paperwork that goes with running trucks legally. A carrier with a gap anywhere in that set does not get offered your freight, and that is not a rule we bend because a load is hot.
You are entitled to see it
Plenty of shippers are asked to trust that vetting happened and are never shown anything. We would rather hand it over. Ask for the certificate of insurance and the authority record for the carrier on your load and you will get them, and if your own compliance team wants that documentation on file at your end, that is a reasonable thing to want rather than an awkward request.
Checked at tender, not filed and forgotten
Insurance lapses. Authority gets revoked. A carrier who was clean at onboarding in January is not automatically clean in June, so the check runs again at the point we tender the load rather than once at signup. It is the boring half of brokerage and it is most of what keeps freight out of trouble.
