Consumer goods and retail
Distribution centre freight, where the delivery appointment matters as much as the freight and missing it costs more than the transit.
What this freight actually demands
Three things that decide whether it goes well
Chargebacks are the real cost
A missed DC appointment can cost more than the linehaul. Retail compliance programmes fine on late delivery, wrong pallet configuration and paperwork errors alike.
Appointments are scarce
Reschedule a missed window and the next slot may be days out. This is why we build appointment lead time into the plan instead of treating it as a delivery detail.
Pallet standards are enforced
Height limits, overhang, stretch wrap and labelling are checked at receiving. Freight that fails is refused at the door.
| Primary equipment | Dry van |
|---|---|
| Full loads | Full truckload into DCs |
| Smaller stores | Less than truckload |
| When it slips | Expedited recovery |
What we need to protect the appointment
The DC, the appointment reference, the window, and the receiving requirements in full. If your retailer publishes a routing guide, send it. It is the difference between arriving and arriving compliant.
When something slips
You hear from us as soon as we know, not when the window closes. There is usually something that can be done with a few hours of notice and almost nothing that can be done with none.
